A restoration project typically preserves existing layouts, features, and the overall appearance of your sacred space by mending damaged items, refurbishing finishes, and preserving the historic beauty of the original architecture and appointments.
A renovation or remodeling project may retain the original charm of the space while modernizing and improving elements that may no longer be desirable for today’s worship styles or design trends. A renovation can also transform a space from the features of the original denomination or purpose to the preferences of a building’s new stewards.
Once you have contacted us about a church restoration or renovation project, one or more of Artech’s knowledgeable consultants will visit your Church or Temple to learn more about the extent of your needs and your vision for the proposed work. Artech’s team can work with any pre-approved design or architectural plans. In the absence of plans or designs, Artech can make recommendations or assist you with the design and rendering process, as needed. Following the design and/or plan phase, Artech would submit a comprehensive proposal for the desired scopes of work. Upon contract acceptance, Artech’s team will coordinate materials purchases and assemble the best team of craftsmen and specialists for your project. A schedule is determined with consideration given to any anniversaries or planned events, meeting your time frame expectations with as little disruption to your service schedule and activities as possible.
Not sure how much guidance or involvement you need for your renovation plans? Artech works with your organization as needed, to ensure your church or temple renovation is completed to your satisfaction. The three most typical types of project involvement and implementation are: turn-key renovations, joint project renovations, and renovation coordination. Review the descriptions of each to determine which option is right for you:
This type of church renovation is 100% managed by Artech from design concept to construction and through to final finishing touches. Artech is your Project Manager and we will coordinate all the materials and on-site trades required to complete your restoration or renovation. With Turn-Key service, Artech will guide you through the design process, products and materials selections including making recommendations based on our decades of experience to help bring your vision to life.
With a joint project renovation, Artech will work with your designer, architect, and/or general contractor to assist in renovating your church. Due to the voluminous nature of a sacred space, heavy yet infrequent traffic, and acoustical challenges, many aspects of a church or temple renovation are different from general construction work. Artech will supply the specific knowledge for relocating pews, providing new seating, material selections appropriate for a worship environment, plaster repairs and painting, audio & visuals, and/or lighting updates.
Minor renovations are typically cosmetic updates and usually do not include general construction work. You may want to update the aesthetics of the space with elements such as new flooring, fresh paint, pew refurbishment, pew upholstery, update or replace lighting, etc. Designs are not generally required and Artech will work within the existing footprint and boundaries of the space. We meet with your committee to review the project scope and identify materials selections. Once everything is agreed upon, we then schedule the work in a mutually agreed upon time frame to minimize the disruption to service times and planned events.
Once you have contacted us about a church renovation, we will visit you on-site to learn about the extent of your renovation needs. If you are not working with an architect, Artech Church Interiors will create drawings and 3D Renderings for review and approval by your building committee. After approval of concept, our interior designer will coordinate colors and designs for your church. Depending upon the level of construction that is required, we would submit a comprehensive renovation proposal. After contract of the project, we then coordinate the purchase and acquisition of materials and schedule the construction work, meeting your time frame with as little disruption to your church services as possible.

This type of church renovation is 100% managed by Artech from interior design to final finishing touches. We are responsible for the renovation from concept to completion, with one point of contact and one responsible party. With a Turn-Key Renovation, Artech is responsible for General Contracting, Design and Construction. If you want to restore the exterior of your church, update the Chancel area, replace the flooring in your Nave, add efficient LED lighting, or a combination of multiple aspects of renovation, we manage the entire project. We begin with an interior design where we prepare sketches and drawings for review and approval by your building committee. Our interior designers coordinate colors of the carpets and pew upholstery. Once the design is approved, we coordinate all materials and schedule the actual work in an agreed upon time frame that would disrupt church services as little as possible.
